Meet Totally Made-up musical

Totally Made-Up Musical is DFW's premiere improvised musical theatre group — no script, no rehearsals, and no clue what's coming until the audience gives us a single suggestion and the band starts playing.

The group was created in the Fall of 2024 by Billy Betsill, who has spent over two decades in the improv world. He has performed with several improv groups, including Locked Out Comedy, The J.I.M. Experiment, Comedy Sportz, and Please Sing Already. However, most of his 30+ year performance career has been spent in professional theatre across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Totally Made-Up Musical grew out of a simple idea: what happens when you take the discipline of musical theatre and the fearlessness of improv, and put them on stage together, live, with nothing prepared in advance?

Every show brings together professional musical theatre actors, seasoned improvisers, and some of the most skilled musicians around! Together they build an entire musical from scratch in real time, based on nothing more than a single audience suggestion. What unfolds is different every night, and no two shows are alike.

Since launching, Totally Made-Up Musical has performed at venues all across DFW — including Meow Wolf, Circle Theatre, Theatre Arlington, The Firehouse Theatre, Stage West, and many more. Every show brings a night of live music, big laughs, and genuine on-your-feet theatrical skill to audiences throughout the DFW metroplex and beyond.
